e taught me the business of being a writer, and later I began to freelance on my own. Since then, I’ve written over 40 books for young readers, many of which you can check out here on my website.


oday I live in a picturesque village on the Connecticut shore of Long Island Sound with my husband, Peter, whom I met when I lived in New York City. We have two college-aged sons, Cole and Brooks, who are into music and film and hanging with friends, so when they're home from college, our house is wild and noisy again. From where I write, I can see a salt marsh that reminds me of my childhood summers in Georgia. I feel lucky to be doing something I love, and to have a caring and supportive family. And now that it's only noisy around here once in awhile, I kind of miss the chaos...
